The resort’s unique look was shaped by a local artist, Upi Kärri, and architect Antti Tähtinen, who envisioned a new and unique architectural design for Pyhätunturi. They introduced the use of Aihki-beams, which are large pine logs transformed into square timbers and boards, giving our buildings both strength and a distinctive character.
Among Kärri’s many creations is the iconic Kelokielo chandelier, crafted from hollow pine branches. Today, his designs continue to glow in the resort’s main lodge and lakeside sauna, linking every visitor to the spirit of Lapland’s forests.
